All-day golf outing at famed Sleepy Hollow Country Club on May 13 will culminate with star-studded dinner hosted by Ronan Collins.

The NY Irish Center in Long Island City, and The Clinton Scholarship Fund at Queen’s University Belfast (launched in 2023 by Bill and Hillary Clinton) will be honored by the Eithne & Paddy Fitzpatrick Memorial Fund at its annual golf classic on Monday May 13.  This year’s 30th annual tournament will be hosted by the celebrated Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Briarcliff Manor, NY, where the event has taken place every year since its inception.

Founded by the prominent New York hotelier, John Fitzpatrick, the Fund has raised close to $5M for charities on the Island of Ireland, and in the United States.  “I am particularly pleased that our golf event this year will support two extraordinary organizations on either side of the Atlantic that each, in their own way, promote international collaboration,” comments Mr. Fitzpatrick.

Named after John Fitzpatrick’s parents, the Fund’s annual golf charity event draws a who’s who of leaders in business, the arts, and the media.  The daylong event starts at 9am, and includes breakfast, lunch, a cocktail reception and dinner and awards ceremony at 5pm.  Once again, the legendary Irish broadcaster Ronan Collins serves as the dinner’s master of ceremonies.  Eamonn Darcy will be among the prominent professional golfers taking part in the golf part of the day. Mick McCarthy, the former manager of the Republic of Ireland soccer team, will also be in attendance.

Through a mixture of social enrichment and cultural programs, the NY Irish Center actively supports an ever-changing Irish diaspora in New York, with services and events for seniors, families and children.  In its storefront theater, The Reilly Room, it presents over 100 cultural programs every year, including comedy, music, theater, film, and book events.  From its location in Long Island City, NYIC is a favorite gateway into the busy New York cultural scene for numerous performers from the island of Ireland.

“What an honor it is to be recognized and supported for our positive impact on our community, and also our diverse Queens neighborhood,” says George C. Heslin, NYIC’s executive director since 2020.  “Our neighbors know our doors are always open since we provide all kinds of services for community.”
